We were asked to provide training workshops and technical support on advanced methods in assessment and psychometrics in 2017.

Tailored training

The Punjab Examinations Commission (PEC) needed capacity building for three key objectives:

• to deliver high quality assessments and examinations
• to exercise its statutory duties
• to support the improvement of education outcomes

NFER consulted with key PEC staff on their priorities and needs, and developed a bespoke programme of training. Topics included:

• Item development
• Classical item analysis
• Item response theory
• Test construction
• Statistical techniques for the analysis of results

Our experts delivered the training through a series of workshops and seminars at PEC’s offices. We also helped to improve PEC’s annual report, so their insights were as clear and practical as possible.
