NFER has identified four key priorities, based on our rigorous research and insights, that we believe should be addressed in each of the political parties' manifestos in the lead up to the General Election; teacher workforce, skills needed for tomorrow's workforce, education funding and supporting children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

As part of this work, we will be holding a number of policy focussed webinars ahead of the general election. This webinar, chaired by Jon Severs (Tes), was the third in this series and focused on how the main political parties may look to tackle the disadvantage gap in education.

The panellists included:

  • Abby Jitendra, Principal Policy Adviser, Joseph Rowntree Foundation
  • Louise Murphy, Economist, Resolution Foundation
  • Jessica Prestidge, Deputy Policy Director, Centre for Social Justice
  • Dr Ben Styles, Head of Classroom Practice and Workforce, NFER
