An Investigation into Gender Differences in Achievement: Phase 2: school and classroom strategies
01 January 2000
Gender differences in achievement have been the focus of much national concern, as well as generating extensive political and academic debate. As a result, schools have been implementing strategies to address differences and this report provides information and insights into how some of them work, in practice.
The report describes the findings of Phase 2 of a study which carried out in-depth case studies in 19 schools. The research investigated the following questions:
- Why did schools decide to adopt particular strategies to address gender gaps?
- How did schools implement their chosen strategies?
- What impact did the strategies have on key participants
- How effective were the strategies?
