Environmental education, although acknowledged to be a essential element in any young person's education, has received comparatively little attention from the educational research community in the United Kingdom. There may be several reasons for this including, perhaps, difficulty in obtaining funds and/or sponsors and a lack of emphasis on teaching and learning about the environment in the school curriculum. It is important, therefore, to facilitate communication between those research groups that are working within the field of environmental education in order to prevent duplicated effort and foster formative liaison.
