Impact Review for Schools

Thank you to all the schools who supported NFER research in 2024.

Over the past year, more than 70,000 teachers and school leaders contributed to our research and assessments. Thanks to this partnership, our work reached over 1.6 million pupils - helping to shape education policy and practice in the UK and beyond.

From teacher surveys and classroom trials to national assessments and online innovations, your involvement ensures that NFER continues to produce high-quality, independent research that makes a real difference in schools.

In this year’s Impact Review for Schools, we highlight how your contributions helped:

  • Inform national policy on teacher recruitment and retention, school funding, and SEND provision
  • Influence thinking on the future of Ofsted, AI in education, and post-16 subject choices
  • Shape practical resources and assessments used every day in classrooms

We also launched new tools like NFER Online Assessments (NOA), expanded our Research Bites series, and contributed to international research supporting learners around the world.
