As part of the 2022 RISE annual conference, NFER’s Juliet Kotonya presented a paper on Nurturing Accountability Mechanisms at School Level: Lessons from a Partnership between Uganda Government’s Directorate of Education Standards and a Non-state Sector Actor.

In conjunction with Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS), this paper looks at the partnership with the Ugandan Directorate of Education (DES), which led to the pilot and subsequent roll out of the Inspect and Improve Programme (I&I), with independent evaluation conducted by NFER.
