The Academies Governance and Leadership Conference will offer leading updates and solutions in delivering high quality governance practices which support enhanced operational and educational outcomes for all academies.

With insights from key experts and practitioners, delegates will assess how to deliver high quality scrutiny to raise standards of education through better working relationships with school leaders, the next steps in diversifying governing bodies and leadership teams, and learn lessons from different sized academies and MATs.

The impact of COVID-19 on education delivery will also be discussed, as experts and practitioners navigate the challenges of making up for lost time to ensure pupil progress.

NFER’s Research Manager Kelly Kettlewell will be presenting at 10.15am, presenting key findings from the DfE-commissioned Governance Investigative Research Project aimed at enhancing the evidence base and informing future school and trust governance strategy, which included a large scale survey and follow up interviews with those involved in governance including trustees, governors, executive leaders, members and clerks.

She will also be exploring the key themes emerging from the research and sharing key messages for academies on the experience of governance, challenges encountered and what is working well.
